The YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange (SWSE) is looking for participants, host families and employers for Summer 2012!
SWSE is a national, non-profit exchange program offering 16- and 17-year-old youth the opportunity to improve their second official language skills while also gaining valuable work experience through a paid placement in the non-profit sector or public sector. For six weeks during the summer, participants live with a host family and work in a community in Canada where French predominates; at the same time, their own family usually hosts their French-speaking counterpart. They travel with a group of peers, and take part in activities every weekend and some weeknights to deepen their connection to each other and their new community. SWSE is a non-profit exchange funded by Exchanges Canada (Department of Canadian Heritage), and is offered at minimal cost ($50) to the participants.
